Click on image to zoom inHurrah! This week I purchased a bicycle.
I am looking forward to summer cycles, country roads, sun shining, wind blowing through the hair lalalaa...
Ha the reality is I'm ashamed to say, until I get some practice in, the experience so far can only be described as 'hairy'. Whoever began the phrase, 'it's just like riding a bike' clearly had not been bikeless for as long as I have.
I bought my bike from Richard at Leith Cycles Co, not only was he close by and had the bike I wanted but more importantly he has a url which made me laugh www.greatbikesnobull.com
Sadly, the day I bought my bike I learnt from Richard, and later a friend who had witnessed it, that a cyclist had been killed on his way to work that morning on South Bridge. The cause of the accident is still unknown but what I also learned from Richard is that the number of cyclists in road accidents has multiplied with this crazy road situation in Edinburgh just now.
Without soap-boxing too much, it seems that for a council who are keen to get all the drivers out of the city, some proper bike lanes would not go amiss?
Again Richard at the bike shop tells me he and others are on it. Fighting the cyclists corner. Until then me, my cycling and sexy cycle helmet will stick to sunny cycle paths and quiet roads.
Take care.

This is my friend's Facebook picture. It cracks me up, such a simple idea but very very funny.
I wanted to post it as she is considering like many people removing herself from Facebook. i just couldn't see this shot die so here it is in homage to the fun that Facebook was.
Not so long ago Facebook was the hottest thing going, everyone was talking about it, checking it, posting on it, spying on it. It seems now not only has the excitement dissipated and the novelty worn off but former advocates have quickly become irritated with it.
Smart brands won't want to associate themselves with a site which is losing popularity. Are all social network marketing sites this short lived? Is it all just a passing trend? Or maybe there is still a strong future for social network marketing. Sites that will stand the test of time.
Who knows what the future of the online social life holds, not me for sure. (Perhaps Mr Coulter will tell us.)
For now thanks to Rachael for the pic and hope it made you smirk.

Click on image to zoom inLast weekend we were in London for a friend's photography exhibition. The work is on show at the viewfinder gallery in Greenwich all through March, if you're down there it's well worth a look. The artist is Claire Davidson who also happens to be my neighbour so I've seen bits of things coming together whenever I've popped round to visit her. It was great to have it all revealed though. I love the way she uses traditional drawing and photography techniques, bringing them together to create some brilliant thought-provoking pieces.
Well done Claire, let us know when it comes to Edinburgh! Here is a link to give you an idea of her work here

Calling all organic loving, hippie-tastic soul monkeys.
I was at a great launch party on Thursday night for an e-commerce site that has been set up by two friends and ex 1576ers Jo and Katie. The site Soul Boutique, sells all kinds of organic treats. Beauty products, teas, natural candles, yoga clothes the lot.
(The plan was christmas presents but everything I ended up coming home with was for me) :D
