How this cheeky cover from France's Premiere Farming Journal made it to the newsagents shelf we can only guess. Especially in the 50's when even the briefest flash of ankle was enough to offend. It goes to show that the French (or maybe just the French Illustrating fraternity) do have a sense of humour. At least the farmer's wearing his Sunday best. Should it have been delivered through the post in a brown paper bag? Ewe decide.
If you come upon any more illustrations that somehow made it through the censors net give me a shout and i'll compile a rogues gallery.
